About This Project

This site was created as part of our Web3 class project: to design a neocities site in Web1.0 style. Inspired by the history of AOL and the “Eternal September” era of the 1990s, I tried to recreate the look and feel of how people first experienced the web: animated GIFs, scrolling text, and chatroom links were all part of the era.

The project is built with simple HTML, just like early GeoCities and Angelfire pages. This is an ongoing project, and over time I may add new sections (like a guestbook, fake AOL login, and more nostalgic features).

Credits: The slogan “No pr0n, no warez, just Usenet” and the parody timestamp “Thu Sep 11720 16:48:52 +02:00 1993” were inspired by the real eternal-september.org Usenet service, which has been keeping the spirit of the Eternal September alive to this day.
